| The Chinese ancient compendiums with "Bie Lu" ("Compendium to the Catalogue of Books”)and "QiLv"(Compendium of Books in Seven Categories) compiled by the father and son Liu Xiang(ca.77-6B.C)and Liu Xin(?-23)of the Western Han Dynasty(206 B.C.-A.D.24)as their orgin had gone through more than 2000 years of time and up to the meidterm of 1970s entered a florishing and prosperous stage.By March 1994,the country has altogether more than 290 titles of compendium newspapers and periodicals covering almost all the subjects or disciplines.2 ills.2 refs. |
