| IFLA General Conference in 1996 is a most impressive achievement that the organisers are to be proud of. There has been tremendous progress in design and construction of library buildings in China.The author looks at the future of library services in the context of new library buildings and the new information environment that is developing rapidly,and then believes that the library of the future will be a hybrid institution that contains both digital and book collections,and public library,in particular,will demonstrate a growing social role. |
