| Library science education in Japan originated after Meiji Restoration. In 1860s, Library educators mainly introduced European and American library services. In 1872,the first public library was established in Japan. In 1897, Library Act was promulgated. Since then, many new libraries have been founded and library education of various kinds have been developing rapidly. 31 refs. |
