| The author summarizes the following characteristics of online databases: large size, rapid growth, timely updating, wide coverage, standard formats, efficient search functions, flexible displays and outputs, extensibility, etc. The author thinks that the rapid increase of academic journals, the rapid development of electronic books, and the intelligent and personalized services are their future trends. 10 refs. |
