Abstract:
The self-orientation of library to protect knowledge freedom cannot be widely accepted even in the United States where knowledge freedom is often talked about. Knowledge freedom and library social responsibility conflict with each other. The author thinks that while implementing knowledge freedom, library should adhere to the integration of tool reason and value reason, and recognize the social reality in China. 27 refs.

      图书馆维护知识自由的自我定位,即便在竭力鼓吹知识自由的美国也不被主流社会完全认同。知识自由与图书馆的社会教育职责是一对矛盾。图书馆社会教育职责随着知识自由观念的确立逐渐式微。图书馆在实施知识自由观念时,应该坚持工具理性和价值理性统一的指导思想,立足现实社会和具体图书馆实际,坚持有所侧重选择的原则。参考文献27。
