| Abstract: |
| Library Services Act，Library Services and Construction Act and Library Services and Technology Act are three library acts at the federal level. Although they were established in different historical periods, basically they are the heritage and development of one act. The three federal library acts authorize the federal government to allocate funds to local governments to support the development of their public libraries and specify the amount of funds, its usage and management and so on. Library Services Act is an act for the rural areas with a population less than 10,000 and aims at improving the coverage and penetration of library services; Library Services and Construction Act is an act drafted mainly for the problem of libraries old buildings and extends the funding to all regions. Library Services and Technology Act puts an end to the funding for the construction of library buildings, but increases instead the financial support for libraries’ investment in information technology. Library Services and Technology Act also reflects the trend of association and cooperation between libraries and museums. 3 tabs. 13 refs. |
