| Abstract: |
| ALA professional recognition awards system is the core section of ALA honor system and most associated with library profession. It contains achievement awards, advocacy awards, architecture design awards, intellectual freedom, library for excellence, literacy and social responsibility, services to children & young adults, services to underserved populations, special collections & archives, technology awards. The system is administered by ALA and its subsidiaries, including various divisions, offices and roundtables. The ALA general awards are administered by ALA's Governance Office, and the management processes include advocacy, nomination, appraise, release, announce and archive. The ALA professional awards system is widely supported by social forces and has various managerial bodies and wide range of coverage. 9refs. |
