| Abstract: |
This article describes the process of Marxist literature collecting in SunYat-sen University Library in recent years, and for the first time publicly reveals the collection of rare Marxist documents to the society, including:1） six manuscripts of Marx and Engels: the letter of Marx to Heinrich Brockhaus dated on 19 August 1852, the manuscript note of “On the Polish Question” by Marx in 1863 （never published before）, the letter of Marx to Collet Dobson Collet dated on 26 September 1886（never published before）, the letter of Marx to Louis Justin Lahure dated on 20 January 1875 （never published before）, the letter of Engels to Thomas Allsop dated on 28 October 1876 （never published before）, the letter of Marx to Charles Waldstein dated on 26 January 1880; 2） the earliest three important versions of The Communist Manifestoincluding the first German version published by RHirschfeld, English & Foreign Printer, 48, Clifton Street, Finsbury Square, London, in February 1848 （a twenty four pages version）, the first Russian version translated by Mikhail Bakunin and published in 1869, and the first French version translated by Laura Lafargue and published by Le Devenir Social, RE NOUVELLE, 9 Rue Daubenton, 9, Paris, in 1895; and 3） the first edition of fourteen languages of Das Kapitalin German, Russian, French, Polish, Danish, Italian, English, American first edition, Yiddish, Japanese, Hungarian, Chinese, Swedish, Serbo Croatian and Estonian These collections are rare versions in the world and the unique in the libraries in China The manuscripts of Marx and Engels are useful for the editing and publishing of the Marx Engels Gesamtausgabe, and the first versions of The Communist Manifestoand Das Kapitalconsist of the history of the spreading of Marxism in the world The article holds that to collect and preserve the rare Marxist literature is helpful to inherit the great spirit of Marxism, to improve the level of Marxist theoretical research and to play the role of educating the classical works of Marxism 1 tab 14 refs
