信息使用是信息行为领域的核心组成部分,也是信息资源管理的重要研究议题。本文通过分析相关概念和使用维度,形成对信息使用概念的理解,并梳理信息使用研究理论。自1948年以来,信息使用研究从着重探讨信息源发展到重视发挥信息价值。信息使用研究应以问题解决为目标,对用户的信息使用过程和效用进行评估和分析。为此,本文提出一个具有动态性和可扩展性的研究框架,旨在从认知、行为、情感和效用四个维度分析信息使用的动因、过程、结果和产出。展望未来,信息使用研究应关注生成式人工智能技术发展带来的实践挑战和研究机遇,深入研究不同情境中的信息使用,并关注创造性问题解决。图1。表1。参考文献60。

Information use is a core component of information behavior research and serves as the bridge between information resources and users. Information use refers to the activity in which individuals or groups process and apply information through cognitive,behavioral,and affective interactions with information environments/contexts,information sources/channels,information technologies/tools,and information contents so as to generate information utility and solve problems. It further interprets information use from three perspectives:purposefu lness,emphasizing that problem solving is the fundamental driver；multidimensionality,encompassing cognitive,behavioral,affective,and utility aspects；and contextuality,recognizing that information use manifests differently across varied settings such as academic,social media,and consumer contexts.
This study provides a comprehensive review of the historical periods and theories of information use research and outlines future directions for the field. The historical development is divided into three stages:the emergence period（1948-1980）,characterized by a focus on elite user groups,citation based quantitative methods,and information source usage within informal networks such as invisible colleges；the exploration period（1981-2007）,marked by a paradigm shift from system centered to user centered perspectives,the rise of qualitative methods,and the establishment of dedicated academic forums such as the ISIC conference；and the development period（2008 onward）,distinguished by rapid growth in empirical studies,increasingly granular behavioral analysis,and the formation of cohesive scholarly communities both internationally and in China. The study also introduces major theoretical foundations,including information use environments,small world theory,sense making theory,and information search process model,while noting that existing theories remain underdeveloped regarding the specific actions,sequences,and outcomes of information use. A dynamic and extensible framework for information use research is proposed,centering on problem solving as the ultimate goal. This framework systematically delineates the motivations,processes,outcomes,and outputs of information use across cognitive,behavioral,affective,and utility dimensions,while accounting for influencing factors. The framework highlights the non linear and iterative nature of information use behavior.
Looking ahead,the study identifies four key directions:addressing practical challenges posed by generative artificial intelligence（GenAI）,including information hoarding,information overload,and authority bias；seizing research opportunities arising from GenAI's memory and integration capabilities；deepening context specific studies of information use with attention to vulnerable populations and collaborative information use；and promoting creative problem solving,which involves transforming and restructuring knowledge to generate novel solutions. 1 fig. 1 tab. 60 refs.
