librarianship has completed the transformation from internationalization to Chinization. Due to the
language and script, the library science research in China is still in a closed loop. In the future, it
should make some efforts in the world.

4.1 Chinese voice

We should take active part in international activities and make our academic voice be heard. Taking
the IFLA as an example, in the recent decade, the yearly number of participants of the World
Library and Information Conference (WLIC) from China has been ranking the second except the
host country, only less than the US. However, there are only 40 Chinese library experts among the
1, 400 library experts of the IFLA. In other words, Chinese librarians are mainly participators and
audience instead of organizers and leaders. From now on, Chinese librarians should become active
in international organizations and try to be decision-makers and leaders to enable the international
library community to hear our voice.

4.2 Chinese ideas

We should cooperate with other countries and communicate our academic ideas. For over one
hundred years, the Chinese library community has been learning from the West, whereas Chinese
academic ideas are seldom spread to the world. The Chinese library community should actively
participate in international communication and introduce excellent results and ideas in the library
science research to other countries for their reference. Only by mutual exchange, learning and
reference can unilateral learning be shifted to multilateral interaction to bolster the development of
global librarianship.

4.3 Chinese innovations

We should make innovation in the promotion pattern and tell the new creative story of Chinese
librarianship in a better way. In the new century, innovations emerge one after another in the library
community, which is sufficient to lead the developmental trend of the world library. Nevertheless,
it is not well known by the world because of the promotion pattern and thus contributes to the
world librarianship in a limited way. In the future, we should make innovation in promotion to
make the innovative ideas, technologies, methods and practice become the model of world libraries
and make our contributions to the development of the world librarianship.
