| Up to 1992 , there were 108 public libraries above county library level with an atea of library premises of 251. 81 thousand square meters，2210 library staff, 14909 thousand volumes (items) of library stock，6 medium and small—sized computere and more than 100 microcomputers and terminals. The common features of these libraries are a comparatively large size of library buildings，a fairly modernized libraty fittings and a relatively notable service achievements.For the present，the public libraries of Guang dong Province have already become"sacred places with sweet fragrance of books floating in the air" and"halls that gleam forever".
