| Both abstract and citatior are major evaluation tools for scientific research. The paper brings to light the evaluation functions of each of them and makes a comparison of the ways and characteristics of evaluation between them，putting forward the requirements for the normalization of abstract，citation and the research.1 ill.14 refs.
