| 国外公共数字文化资源整合的实践和研究始于20世纪90年代,已经历了合作共建阶段、资源共享阶段和知识共享阶段。进入21世纪后,公共数字文化资源整合研究受到特别重视。国外该领域的研究主题广泛,主要涉及公共数字文化资源整合的必要性、整合方式、整合技术、面临的问题及对策等方面。研究特点主要有:公共数字文化资源整合日益受到重视,注重数字资源生命周期管理,关注新兴技术在资源整合中的应用,元数据标准成为研究新热点。借鉴国外的研究成果,我国应在公共数字文化资源整合中的合作机制、元数据标准、新技术应用及知识产权保护等方面加强研究。图1。参考文献50。 |

Since the 1990s, a number of researchers and institutes abroad have initiated research investigations and practical implementation of the integration of public digital cultural resources.In fact, the research and practice in overseas countries have been undergone three main stages:cooperation and co-construction, resource sharing, and knowledge sharing.In the 21st century, even greater attentions have been placed on the study of public digital cultural resources integration.This paper reports on a research investigation aiming at analyzing and discussing the origin and historical development of public digital cultural resources integration in foreign countries.Moreover,this paper focuses on the newly emerged research areas in the field, namely, life-cycle management of digital resources, emerging technologies and applications, as well as the formulation of metadata standards.Furthermore, this paper aims to provide useful implications to the study of public digital cultural resources integration in China.
This paper adopts Social Science Citation Index(SSCI) as the data source, which was systematically searched using relevant keywords.The articles were retrieved, manually screened and selected for analysis.The selected articles report a long period of history, represent diverse periodical sources, and demonstrate rich description and discussion.These articles not only provide experience, which were generated and developed through previous projects, but also deliver point views on the approaches of integration as well as the conceptualization of technical implementation in real practice.
This paper analyzed and synthesized four main research orientations on public digital cultural resources integration in foreign counties. 1) The necessity and desirability of investigating public digital cultural resources integration. 2) The approaches for integrating public digital cultural resources.Theis perspective mainly involves resource development, organization, access and acquisition, retention and preservation, as well as user service provision. 3) Useful and practical technologies for public digital cultural resources integration.Theese technologies include digital visualization, linked data applications and platforms, two-dimension code technologies, and cloud computing. 4) Problems encountered and potential solutions in the processes of public digital cultural resources integration.Puoblems can emerge from the collaboration between heterogeneous public cultural organizations, the dissonance of metadata standards, and the protection of intellectual properties.Many scholars abroad have explored and discussed the causes, consequences and mitigating strategies to these problems.Based on the literature analysis, it has become clear that there is a growing concern about the integration of public digital cultural resources.Rsearchers have focused on the life-cycle management of digital resources and the implementation of newly emerged technologies.Also, the articulation of metadata standards has become a popular research topic.
On the basis of the findings, theoretical basis and experience developed and shared by the overseas researchers, the investigation on the integration of Chinese public digital cultural resources should focus on and reinforce the following perspectives:1) establishing effective mechanism for inter-organizational collaboration; 2) formulating a integrated set of pragmatic metadata standards; 3) further strengthening the development and implementation of digital visualization, linked data, two-dimension code, and cloud computing technologies; 4) intensifying the research on intellectual property problems.
This paper contributes to both practice and theory development in three perspectives. Firstly, this paper identifies the origin and different stages of public digital cultural resources integration.Secondly, from the perspective of life-cycle management, the paper explores and evaluates the development, organization, access and acquisition, retention and preservation, as well as the provision of user services of the public digital cultural resources.Thirdly, this paper shed light on the future development and implementation of new information technologies, which can be used in the integration of public digital cultural resources.
However, this paper also includes two limitations. Firstly, due to the limitation of SSCI database, probably not all relevant articles were retrieved and included for analysis.Secondly, the study of metadata standards and intellectual property protection requires further intensification.1 fig. 50 refs.
