on the above research, the framework and model of interdisciplinary multi-granularity knowledge
representation are constructed to realize the interdisciplinary multi-granularity knowledge
representation of digital library knowledge resources. Finally, according to the knowledge
representation framework and model, the knowledge of two articles from different disciplines
are represented, which not only fully describes the knowledge content of each article but also
reveals the interdisciplinary link between them. As a result, the validity of the proposed knowledge
representation framework and model is verified. The case study indicates that the interdisciplinary
multi-granularity knowledge representation framework and model provided by this paper have the
characteristics of multi-granularity, interdisciplinary, multi-angle, dynamic, semantic expression
smooth and extensibility, which are of great significance and value to support the interdisciplinary
               knowledge organization.

The impact of Chinese library and information science knowledge from the
               perspective of external citations

As an applied discipline, Chinese library and information science (LIS) needs to solve theoretical
and practical problems within the discipline, and to promote the diffusion and adoption of
disciplinary knowledge in wider fields through knowledge export, which in turn enhances the
external impact of the discipline. This is an important issue that affects the development, status,
and contribution of the discipline. This paper evaluates the external impact of Chinese LIS and its
evolution in the background of the past 40 years of China’s Reform and Opening-up.
Since citations from outside disciplines are regarded as a valid measurement of knowledge
export, this paper analyzes citations to journal articles in Chinese LIS from journal articles in other
disciplines between 1978 and 2018 in terms of citing disciplines, citing subjects, and cited subjects.
To analyze the changes of external citations over time, this paper uses a time window of 10 years.
The results indicate that: 1) Chinese LIS articles on various subjects are cited by a variety of
other disciplines and subjects and are cited by interdisciplinary researchers with different research
foci on a same topic. The diversity of citing disciplines and subjects shows the potential value of
Chinese LIS for wider fields. 2) During a certain period of development of China, Chinese LIS
provides knowledge base for fields in the stage of rapid development, indicating that Chinese
LIS keeps pace with the times to reform knowledge creation and dissemination. 3) Chinese
LIS integrates the motivation of knowledge export at discipline and subject levels to enhance
knowledge integration, thus forming the domains with high external impact, such as metrics,
governance, service and education of data, information, and knowledge, which gathers and
