on the history of library technology and the history of digital resources construction & service;
7) improving the quality of compiling library historical records; 8) reviving the research of ancient
library history and consolidating the research of contemporary library history; 9) expanding the
study of library history in the regional and spatial dimensions.
It is the historical responsibility of Chinese library historiography researchers to construct a
library historiography theory and method system that can conform to international standards with
Chinese style and to enhance the international discourse power of Chinese scholars.

Future prospect of library and information science in China in the context of
new liberal arts

In the new era, a new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial revolution
is in the ascendant, and the construction of new liberal arts is in its initial stage. The library and
information science in China is also impacted by the tide of innovative technologies to some
extent. This paper comprehensively expounds the background of new liberal arts, explores the
impacts of innovative technologies on library and information science in China, and studies the
future development of library and information science in China in the context of new liberal arts.
Firstly, this paper analyzes the background of the new liberal arts. The proposal of new liberal
arts has the following three main backgrounds: 1) The disciplines are from differentiation to
synthesis; 2) The social problems are becoming more and more complex and changeable; 3) the
comprehensive and high-quality talents are in short supply.
Secondly, this paper explores the impacts of innovative technologies on library and information
science in China. The rapid development and application of innovative technologies, represented
by big data, cloud computing, artificial intelligence, 5G, Internet of things, virtual reality,
blockchain, etc., have had profound impacts on library and information service, library and
information science research, and library and information science education in China. The content
and mode of library and information service in China are constantly changing and upgrading with
the advance and progress of technologies. Under the influence of innovative technologies, the work
flow of library and information service in China has been reconstructed. In addition, the innovative
technologies have brought strong external competition and pressure to the traditional library and
