information service in China. The research of library and information science in China presents
the characteristics of interdisciplinary research on research issues, and the characteristics of the
change to the fourth paradigm in the research paradigm. The external environment, educational
philosophy, teaching methods, and curriculum system of library and information science education
            in China have all changed.
The third is thinking about the future development of library and information science in China
in the context of new liberal arts. In the future, we should pay attention to the following aspects.
            1) Focusing on social needs. Library and information science can make some differences in
the following respects: supporting national innovation in science and technology, think tank
construction and strategy consulting, data management and big data platform construction,
digital humanities practice, and public cultural services. 2) Attaching importance to cross-fusion.
We should attach importance to the integration within the discipline of library and information
science in China and the cross-fusion between library and information science in China and
other philosophy and social sciences. 3) Strengthening theoretical innovation. We should build a
theoretical system of library and information science in China in terms of discipline concepts and
categories, ideological and theoretical viewpoints, and methodological systems. 4) Adhering to
the humanistic tradition. We should adhere to the humanistic tradition of library and information
science in China, and realize the combination of humanistic spirit and scientific spirit, and the
unity of value rationality and technical rationality.

An interdisciplinary extension of library and information science facing data
intelligence and knowledge discovery: Integration of data-academy-creativity

In the data-driven and knowledge-integrated research view, by the data from Web of Science, the
authors pointed out that library and information science (LIS) is not the core discipline for think
tank and big data studies. An effective direction for interdisciplinary extension of LIS needs to be
            explored.
By using logic analysis, the authors found that data intelligence and knowledge discovery
possess rationality as an effective direction, based on data-information-knowledge-wisdom (DIKW)
chain. This way follows the core clues of Resource (Book)-Man(User)-Service(Use) from library
science and Data-Information-Knowledge from information science. The concept chain also takes
the basic model of information science as basis, integrates the basic principles of data science, and
finally realizes the connection of “data-knowledge-intelligence”.
The authors proposed that there are three keys for the interdisciplinary extension of LIS
