innovate in science and technology and the inner drive to pursue economic benefits. In addition,
they have advantages of capital investment, technical personnel and experience in product service.
They can build tailored management systems and technological equipment (such as library
robots) for cooperating libraries based on their own advantages in software development, so as to
provide strong technical support for the smart development of libraries. However, there can also
be problems in the process of cooperation. For example, it is hard for enterprises to understand
the needs of smart library users and therefore provide targeted products and technologies; it is
difficult and costly to develop new products, and some products developed for smart library lack
application scenarios; and there are blind spots in the understanding of government policies, the
current situation and industrial trends, the introduction of new technologies, and market expansion.
In order to facilitate the cooperation between libraries and enterprises, the former can build an
exhibition and experience platform for smart products, design smart products and smart library
services, and create an academic exchange platform for smart libraries to discuss the development,
product R&D, ecological development and other issues on smart library with cooperating
            institutions and enterprises.

5 Lack of theories in the construction of smart library

From a philosophical perspective, the basic principles of Marxism suggest that the production
relations react strongly to the productive forces, and will play a role in binding or liberating,
hindering or developing them. When the production relations meet the requirements of the
development of productive forces, they will effectively promote the development of them; but
when the production relations do not meet the requirements of the development of productive
forces, they will hinder or even destroy the development of them. Smart library is the product of
modern science and technology represented by information technology, and also the embodiment
of advanced productivity. If it is expected to develop healthily, advanced production relations, i.e.,
advanced library science theories are required to lead the direction.
In the era before the smart library, the theories of library science can simultaneously promote
the development of practitioner librarianship. Teachers and researchers of library science have
followed the development trend and hot research topics of library science, and have constantly
enriched the theories of library science based on the real conditions of librarianship in China.
For example, bar code scanning, microfilm storage, optical disk array storage, online retrieval
and network retrieval are applied in the library, which not only bring convenience to readers, but
also improve the allocation of document resources and management of collections in the library.
Accordingly, the theoretical systems of library management represented by CNMARC and
Chinese Library Classification have also been constantly updated to solve the new problems in
library business and service. At the stage of digital library, the theoretical research addressed the
subjects such as the definition of digital library (ZENG, J. ZHANG, & YANG, 2000), construction
