4.5 To be the firm practitioner of service innovation and lifelong learning
Examining the society during the COVID-19 outbreak from a developmental perspective, we can
find that it is the epitome of the flourishing digital society in which all kinds of information exist,
changes prevail and things become unpredictable. However, confronted with assorted challenges,
libraries and librarians demonstrate their responsive thinking which originates from the pursuing
of service innovation and lifelong learning. In fact, service innovation and lifelong learning
are requisite core abilities of all professions in the future, let alone librarians. From another
perspective, libraries are the important space for mass entrepreneurship and innovation. In order to
encourage social innovation and lifelong learning, librarians should first be the firm practitioner.
