intertwined and parallel clues. The sun-type structure emphasizes that there are core events,
characters or restricted space-time domain in the event cluster, which play a dominant role in
other events, and this structure is suitable for extracting important events or characters recorded
in archival data separately, and combining context for narrative arrangement. The narrative
relationship in the mesh structure is relatively loose, which can be compared to the prose in literary
works, and it is more suitable for the narrative organization of archival data with no clear certain
core or theme, but a dense entity relationship, which can be regarded as a simplified archival
            knowledge graph.
              (3) Story statement. After choosing an appropriate storytelling structure of archival data, we
can touch on the high-level goal of archival data research from DH perspective, which is archival
knowledge service based on story statement. This process is to visualize the stories of naturalness,
                                                                         [31]
interrelatedness, uniqueness, authenticity and impartiality in archival data , forming a two-way
knowledge path between archival creators and archival users, which is mediated by researchers
and systems. At this time, the task of archival researchers is still focused on how to present
the archival data which has been knowledge-organized and knowledge-discovered in a multi-
dimensional expression to the users. In this process, the necessity for value-neutral graphical
interfaces (GUIs) that interact directly with users will be further highlighted. The temporal, spatial,
tactile and cognitive elements contained in the interactive interface all reflect the comprehensive
understanding of the front-end and underlying mechanisms of the system by researchers and
developers, and reflect the conceptual attitude and value orientation of researchers towards
archival data. It further involves whether various memory entities in archival data can be expressed
on equivalent terms and whether they have been integrated into the knowledge structure that
                                  [32]
researchers want to present . From the perspective of users, today’s dazzling interactive interfaces
in DH field can effectively shape the direction and angle of users’ thinking transformation. It
is essential to figure out how researchers inspire users to self-observe and judge from different
perspectives when archive data is visually presented in a story statement.

3 The technical methods of archival research from DH perspective

This section takes the specific technologies of knowledge mining, knowledge organization
and knowledge service in the field of DH as the elements, and integrates the technical system
of archival data research on the basis of the previously sorted research methodology, so as to
consistently follow the process of “discovering”, “reconstruction” and “storytelling”, and clarify
the underlying technical support of archival data research from the perspective of DH. What
follows in this article is the construction of the technical system of archival data research from the
perspectives of value retention, value mining and value realization of archival data, as shown in
            Figure 5.
