the researcher to determine the specific perspective of storytelling of different archival datasets.
At the level of presenting archival data storytelling, the extensive intervention of DH technology
can effectively supplement traditional single static methods such as archival compilation and
thematic exhibitions. The archival data expression technology mentioned in this paper is based on
data visualization and scenario simulation technologies such as VR and holographic projection,
based on graphical storytelling combined with visual storytelling, and uses archival data flow or
image stream to combine its context characteristics as input elements, and uses the previously
constructed knowledge graph as an auxiliary automatic narrative mechanism of archival data [35]
to form a multi-dimensional, immersive archival data story environments. The archival narratives
of different dimensions will present different types of story representation paths and entity
connotations, but each aspect and angle are restored and reorganized based on the original and
objective process itself, on the basis of bridging the natural fault between entities within the
archive and reducing the external influence of the archive ontology, the attitude of historiography
is combined with the form of literature, and the archival story is told dynamically.
4 Case study based on DH path and method: taking WU Baokang’s archival
data as an example
Taking the archival data of WU Baokang, a well-known archivist, as the research object under the
guidance of the archival research methodology based on DH, this paper analyzes and visualizes the
archival data, forms a DH research case of archival data with “discovering”, “reorganizing” and
“storytelling” as the main lines, and empirically tests the meso path and micro method proposed in
this study based on the integrated knowledge organization, discovering and service mode.
4.1 Archival data collection and collation
WU Baokang is the founder of archival education in New China and the founder of the Department
of Archives of Renmin University of China (the predecessor of the School of Information Resource
Management of Renmin University of China), and had made significant contributions to the
[36]
development of archival science and archival undertakings in New China throughout his life . In
this process, WU Baokang’s footprints of devoting himself to revolution and education were also
deeply imprinted in archival documents, forming a series of precious historical records.
The research team took the Nanxun District Archives and the old photo website of the School
of Information Resource Management of Renmin University of China as the main sources of WU
Baokang’s archival data, and unified all the collected WU Baokang archival data into the archive
knowledge organization and knowledge discovering platform developed by the team and arranged
and pre-organized the archival data with photos and texts as the main types. In terms of data type,
the archival data collected in this experiment includes images and text, of which 381 images are
