electronic collection of this study was comprised of 120 different full-text databases. Yet this
had no specific effects on the stability of electronic collection’s guarantee. As for OA resources,
generally, the guarantee rate of sample citations grew slowly over time. The guarantee rate went
smoothly after 1990, and the OA resource’s guarantee rate of sample citations reached its peak at
19.60% in 2002.

Figure 2. Availability percentage of cited references in the last 50 years.
Since 2000, especially after 2006, an acceleration of the cited reference curve was identified, which
indicated speedy growth of the patrons’ needs. Figure 3 shows a relatively high similarity between
the curve of the cited reference and the electronic collection. Thus, as for emerging subject and new
fields, electronic collection is the primary choice in satisfying the patrons’ needs. This may be because
the library had broad and abundant access to full-text databases. Although the cited reference curve
accelerated, the print collection and OA resources didn’t perform the similar tendency. This suggests
their mediocre literature supply potentials in face of the rapid growth of patrons’ needs.
