retrieving and using. Hereto, some researchers may argue that the collection data exported from
ExLibris contained certain OA journals which were derived from some OA journal databases listed
above, and then this increment may improve the guarantee rate of electronic to a small extent.
However, instead of “owning”, the “access” character shared with OA and electronic journal make
sense of this shortcoming: the fact is, there is no real substantial difference in retrieval and use
between OA and electronic journals. Thus, treating OA journals which had been embedded into
ExLibris as the electronic collection of a library has its adequate cause.
3) Leaving only 3.78% to be matched manually, this study applied the improved citation
checking method to 66 968 sample citations. Accordingly, this advanced approach has an
advantage in manual cost. A systematic sampling was conducted after the matching procedure (“n”
stands for sample size, n=100; “K” stands for sampling distance, K=669). And then the access
status of this sampling was checked manually. The result demonstrates that the improved citation
checking method produces a high (97.00%) confidence level. The three error samples were from
hybrid OA journals and in open access status when the issues corresponding to the 3 samples were
still partially open to access. Proved precise and efficient in citation checking for journals in this
case, this approach can be used for large sample and avoid defects caused by a narrowed range
