The six factors were named as following in the descending order in terms of their contributions
to the variance explained: Social Interaction (to keep touch and communicate with others), Self
Development (to enrich one’s knowledge and improve his/her literacy), Peer Recognition (to
be recognized or praised by others), Information Acquisition (to seek and acquire the needed
information), Personal Interests (to satisfy one’s curiosity or desires), and Killing Time (to release
oneself or kill time). The Cronbach α, mean and standard deviation of the above six dimensions
were: Information Acquisition (α=0.818, M=3.41, SD=1.00), Killing Time (α=0.771, M=3.21,
SD=1.12), Personal Interests (α=0.825, M=3.51, SD=0.98), Self Development (α=0.889, M=3.16,
SD=1.02), Social Interaction (α=0.905, M=3.38, SD=0.96), Peer Recognition (α=0.862, M=3.36,
SD=1.01).
