geography and GIS technology into the construction of DH projects has been put forward in
this paper. Moreover, this paper aims to narrow the gap between specialized historical GIS and
humanities and social sciences researchers as well as the general public by utilizing the knowledge
organization and authority control methods which researchers of the library field are good at. In
order to achieve the goals and meet the needs, the author has designed the ontology-based spatial-
temporal model of historical geography data, proposed to publish historical geography data on the
Web by LD technology, and provided the technical implementation scheme of API based on the
research achievements realized by researchers focusing on modern historical geography and DH.
As one of the earliest libraries paying attention to and implementing DH projects, Shanghai
Library has been forging digital humanity services platforms, aiming to become part of the
infrastructure for humanities research (W. Liu, Xie, L. Zhang, & Y.J. Zhang, 2016). With people,
place, time and event as the dimensions, Shanghai Library aims to reorganize its abundant and
various collection of historical documents so as to provide readers and researchers with more
precise services and offer open data services to other small and medium-sized libraries. Chinese
