transmutation mechanism of archival research in the DH environment, focusing on constructing
the basic model and corresponding technical system of archival research path from the perspective
of DH. Finally, the practical results of this model are displayed through corresponding cases, and
the rationality of the path and method is verified, so as to sort out the interaction mode between
DH and archival science at the discipline level, and provide theories and methods for the DH
research of archives.

At the technical level, researchers usually digitize traditional archival resources with the
help of optical character recognition (OCR), 3D reconstruction and other technologies, build
a data mining system to sort, count, develop and display archival data, and finally realize
knowledge expression in the form of multiple perception retrieval combined with dynamic visual
presentation [7, 8] . Based on the “Linked Jazz” project of the School of Information and Library
Science of Pratt Institute, CUI Chun et al. investigated the basic mode of archival literature
knowledge organization and development in DH context, from the perspectives of archival
data source, knowledge organization system construction, crowdsourced analysis, and talent
[9]
integration . ZHANG Bin et al. sorted out the relationship between archives and DH from the
perspectives of resources, processes and participants, and considered the impact of systems,
platforms, tools, user interfaces and other contents on the technical system of archives in the DH
[10]
environment .
Humanities scholars have also explored archival research in the DH environment. They are well
versed in the basic characteristics of archival resources, and have conducted in-depth reflection
from DH perspective. Mendelsson, Falk, and Olive point out that the digital development of
paper archives requires the collaboration of archivists, archive staffs, information scientists, and
IT practitioners to place archival resources in specific contexts for integrated management [11] .
Jarlbrink and Snickars conducted ethnographic research on the digitization process of the
traditional Aftonbladet, arguing that libraries and archives need to conduct in-depth investigations
of DH technology to avoid losing their ability to trace the source and control the quality . In
[12]
particular, Klein used named entity recognition and force mapping to analyze the letter archives of
former US President Thomas Jefferson, and restored the activities of black slaves in the archives
while revealing the research orientation such as “inertia research ideas” and “selective disregard”
and value problems in traditional humanities research , thus excavating and reconstructing the

concealed history based on the archival data.
At the internal cognitive level of archival discipline, FENG Huiling took the lead to propose
the concept of “digital memory” in 2015, combining DH and archives for the first time,
pointing out that archives are indispensable resources in the process of memory construction,
and digital technology should be used to build popular, resourceful and well-organized digital
