positive integration of the intergenerational perspective into the comprehensive and specialized
policies of libraries, and regard generational diversity as an important asset of libraries; 3)
Strengthen the understanding of the problem of ageism in children’s literature, build children’s
collection resources that contain accurate, positive and diverse images of the elderly, and cultivate
children’s positive cognition of the elderly and aging; 4) Break the traditional space isolation,
expand or specially open up intergenerational shared space, promote the transformation of
libraries from mono-generational space and multi-generational space to intergenerational space,
reflecting the significance of the library as a space and as a relationship; 5) Carry out multi-theme
intergenerational activities or programs (such as intergenerational reading, intergenerational
learning, intergenerational cultural and historical inheritance, intergenerational art and
entertainment) to truly build a bridge for the interaction and communication between the elderly
and the young.
Based on the practices of American public libraries in promoting generational integration,
this paper proposes the enlightenment for Chinese public libraries, including strengthening and
innovating services for special groups, promoting the reform of library system and mechanism, and
exploring the path of generational integration with Chinese characteristics.

Salute to the greatest thinkers in human history: the contemporary values
of the manuscripts and rare works of Marx and Engels in Sun Yat-sen
University Library

This article describes the process of Marxist literature collecting in Sun Yat-sen University
Library in recent years, and for the first time publicly reveals the collection of rare Marxist
documents to the society, including: 1) six manuscripts of Marx and Engels: the letter of Marx to
Heinrich Brockhaus dated on 19 August 1852, the manuscript note of “On the Polish Question”
by Marx in 1863 (never published before), the letter of Marx to Collet Dobson Collet dated on 26
September 1886 (never published before), the letter of Marx to Louis Justin Lahure dated on 20
January 1875 (never published before), the letter of Engels to Thomas Allsop dated on 28 October
1876(never published before), the letter of Marx to Charles Waldstein dated on 26 January 1880;
2) the earliest three important versions of The Communist Manifesto including the first German
version published by R. Hirschfeld, English & Foreign Printer, 48, Clifton Street, Finsbury
Square, London, in February 1848 (a twenty-four pages version), the first Russian version
