recognize resource elements through the knowledge network. In consequence, in the construction
of the library’s smart environment, on the one hand, the library’s resource organization is required
to be fine-grained, and taking the flowing knowledge’s update into account. It also needs to
provide ordered knowledge and even enriched knowledge networks in the form of knowledge
carriers through library’s physical and virtual space, helping users to reduce the cognitive burden
in massive redundant information and to facilitate users with better learning and reasoning of
knowledge of the objective world. On the other hand, in library’s space environment, libraries
use intelligent technology to provide users with comfortable and smart learning environment, and
assist users to focus on knowledge learning without interference from other factors, which could
deepen their understanding and memory. But when it comes to higher-level collective intelligence
activities, on the basis of the objective knowledge system of the existing resource knowledge
network, it is necessary to mobilize the library’s “space” and “people” to play a role in providing
space support for the community’s knowledge exchange and cooperation. As far as physical space
is concerned, it should continue to develop various forms of spatial communication providing
users with diversified spatial functions, and combine the guidance of librarians to help users
easily exchange knowledge and learn ideas, and develop creative knowledge practices to stimulate
transformation from implicit to explicit. Furthermore, in virtual space, libraries should also provide
a platform for communication, recommend potential “friends” with similar preferences to users,
and establish a mechanism for barrier-free interaction between librarians and users, involving
librarians in users’ discussions to help them to explore. Therefore, collective intelligence activities
require spatial elements to play a key role.
3 Reconstructing the model of smart library service
The purpose of the reconstruction of the smart library service model is to continue to refine and
integrate the internal logic of “resource”, “people” and “space” on the basis of the library’s smart
service strategy for the three elements to play a synergy role. And the systematic construction of
the library’s smart service capability is also inseparable from the support of related technologies
to help to construct smart knowledge environment that can stimulate people’s creativity. Based on
the contradictions faced by libraries and the core points of the library’s smart service ability, this
paper proposes the smart library service construction model as shown in Figure 3 with the help of
related technologies and technical systems, in order to further explore the core service methods of
the smart library.
The construction of the library’s smart ability combines all the smart elements of “resources”,
“people” and “space”. With the help of technical means, the “space perception and construction”,
which takes “smart space” as the core, is constructed from the bottom to provide users with
comfortable library learning and communication environment and to capture user behavior data.
