“integrity” and “expansion” . Active “expansion” is to bring in advanced concepts, technologies
and approaches and promote the core achievements in the outer world; “integrity” is to ensure
consistency with the nature and roots of the discipline, or “integrity” with “information” to
strengthen the capacity of the discipline. These two strategies enable the discipline to better show
its charm and power of discourse, and nourish the core competitiveness and discourse system of
the discipline.
The discourse system of a discipline is based on a sound discipline system and a solid and
profound academic system. The discipline discourse system with self-belief, profound thinking,
confidence, appeal, influence and dominance needs strong support from the theories, ideas and
knowledge of the discipline. The development of the discourse system of information science
should first keep pace with the times, make in-depth exploration, constantly improve the theories
of the discipline, and build the discourse system with a broad vision to ensure that information
science with Chinese characteristics can voice the ideas of information, show the spirit of
information in national strategies, strengthen the support of information in decision-making, and
play a greater role in safeguarding national security and promoting social development without
failing to remember the original intention, fulfill the mission and honor the promise to the times.
