produce original information products with information as the core.
The new context and new demands, and the intersection of disciplines have driven the changes
of theories, approaches and research paradigms of information science, and also promoted
the thriving and development of information science research. The traditional principles of
information science on literature and information are based on small samples and limited data
(see references [9] and [10]). However, in the big data environment, these principles need to be
verified, expanded and even innovated. For example, BA Zhichao et al. proposed that the basic
theories of information science in the context of big data need to be reconstructed [27] . In the
past, information science research on military and civil affairs went their own way. However,
under the framework of national security and development, the development of the macroscopic
intelligence discipline needs the two to be integrated. LU Shengjun and others believe that the
integration of research on civil and military affairs provides a solid system and institutional basis
and sound policy environment for the evolving of concepts, principles and patterns on information.
Theories of information science exhibit the features of transforming from separation, dispersion
and differentiation to convergence, mutual integration and common progress [28] . YANG Guoli
and others believed that the information chain elements and their mutual transformation provide
common foundation of the integration of military-civil information, on which basis the basic
                                                        [29]
theories of military and civil affairs are also converged .
The author believes that in the big data context of the new era, information science, as an
intersecting discipline, must break the disciplinary barriers, effectively absorb and integrate
the theories and approaches of other disciplines, so as to ensure that the theoretical research of
information science has larger space for innovation and the knowledge system can be expanded.
The intersection of disciplines will bring many new growth points to the research of information
science and promote the continuous expansion of the fields of academic research. However,
expansion will inevitably lead to the diffusion of research. In order to ensure that information
science can develop around the core subject of “information”, the academia has reached a
consensus on the development of the discipline in the new context—holding on to the strategies of
integrity and expansion. In the “expansion” of information science research, we should constantly
consolidate the theoretical basis and knowledge system of the discipline, and in the meantime
actively spread the knowledge system and theoretical approaches of information science, affecting
other disciplines and expanding the application field. In terms of “integrity”, we should actively
absorb the theories, approaches and knowledge of other disciplines to strengthen the discipline
of information science, and ensure that the new theories, approaches and knowledge system of
information science hold on firmly to the “root” of “information”.
Since the birth of information science in China, its basic theories and knowledge system have
undergone great changes. From the early literature-based basic theories, to the theories that
emphasize information, and to the information science theories that focus on the construction and
dissemination of information in the network environment, these academic results all contain the
