search logs, and the diary, and combined with the text content of the interview to achieve
quantitative analysis and qualitative analysis.
Our results show that the participants searched for information with different languages in
mobile environment. Different from other users’ more diverse information needs, college students
focused on several particular topics. The numbers of queries and search sessions observed in this
experiment were higher than what are reported in the literature, which might show that users with
higher information literacy would search more frequently. As mobile searches become easier to
operate, college students could satisfy their information needs through shorter queries and search
sessions. At the same time, they performed more complex search tasks on the mobile phone
through multiple strategies. We also found that the mobile applications they used were more
diverse in a search session, reflecting their different search strategies. In addition, mobile search
would lead to other follow-up activities such as making a purchase, navigating, sharing the search
results,etc.
Studying the mobile search strategy will help to understand the features of users’ search
behaviors, and it can enable mobile service providers to serve better to users’ search habits and
information needs.
Public libraries in the public cultural service standards
FENG Jia ①a *
The Opinions on Accelerating the Establishment of Modern Public Cultural Services System was
issued by the General Office of the CPC Central Committee and the General Office of the State
Council in January,2015. Since its issuance, the provincial party committees and governments
all over China (including autonomous regions and municipalities) have been making efforts
to promote public cultural construction projects and implement the Opinions. Until now, 26
provinces (including autonomous regions and municipalities) have already issued local policies.
As the attachment of the Opinions, Directive Standards for Basic National Public Cultural
Services (2015-2020) are the“bottom line”of public cultural services reflecting the governmental
responsibilities at the national level and provide guidance and reference in service contents and
categories. As guiding standards, the Directive Standards are comprised mainly of qualitative
indicators, which leaves enough room for local innovative standards. Since public libraries play
an important role in the public cultural services system, related indicators of public libraries are
also included in the Directive Standards. There are 8 indicators directly involved with public
libraries, focusing on service population, special groups and talent team construction and so on.
Accordingly, local standards for basic public cultural services have been issued as attachments
